Hi and thanks for stopping by our site. Chances are if you've hovered here you are just as interested as us at making some changes in the way you live and shop and spreading the eco word!
I'll be honest as a working mum of 3 little fellas I felt that making eco friendly choices didn't really apply to me, I was too busy and on a tight budget so it felt like just getting through a day was a big win, how could I possibly make any changes that were going to take me more time or cost me more money?!
I know some of you may be shocked at that, but saving the environment as well felt like a stretch too far. I was already using my own shopping bags and have for years had a refillable water bottle but the idea of being zero waste felt so far out of reach and unachievable I didn't even attempt to go down that route.
When I started to look into the products that were available it became a little less daunting and I found some great products which actually work, look great and I was pleased to find that not all swaps would cost me more money.
So that's when I decided to put together Zero Hero Shop to give busy people like me some great and easy alternatives to bring into their daily routine. I'm not zero waste and to be honest I don't think I ever will be but by making some simple switches, bamboo toothbrushes, non plastic toothpaste, shampoo bars, soap bars, reusable washing up sponges, wax food wraps you can make a huge difference in the waste that you are creating and it doesn't need to be time consuming or expensive.
The products I found (and some I make) I love and I hope that you love them too. There is not a single swap I've made that hasn't worked for me (yet) or that I've gone back on and that really says a lot. I use shampoo bars but when I was a teenager (not saying how many years ago!) I tried solid shampoo bars and they just didn't work for me. In my opinion the products that are available now are better than they ever have been in terms of not compromising on performance. I always think if they had worked and I'd been using them all these years how many hundreds of shampoo bottles I would have saved in waste. We can't change what we've done but we can change the choices we make now and going forward. Let's be a part of change.
I've 'virtually' met some great people along my journey so I'd love to hear from you. If you have any ideas, suggestions or just want to say hi please get in touch I'll always reply.
